My name is Gloria, and Jarrelyn N. Ruiz is my mother. What started as a lovely day turned into a dangerous situation. My mom and brother Jarred had just returned home from the Special Olympics practice, and I was coming over to spend quality time with them until I saw how black the sky was. On August 3rd, a sudden, powerful storm hit Baton Rouge, causing a tree to fall on my mother's manufactured home. This home is where she lovingly raised me and my two siblings, and it's also where she & my brother, who has special needs, and her fur babies still live. To provide some context, my mother had to rebuild her home after the 2016 flood and make further adjustments to meet the requirements for homeowners insurance. After using her life savings and taking out a loan to rebuild, a tree unexpectedly fell on her house before she could even apply for insurance, leaving her home destroyed and uninhabitable. This fundraiser aims to build a support fund to cover the damages or help her find a new home. Your contributions, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in our ability to buy or rebuild her home and provide vital necessities for my mom and my brother with special needs. With heartfelt gratitude, we thank you for reading and for any contribution that you feel prompted to give. Please have them in your prayers so our voices are heard by the most high. "For when two or more are gathered in his name, he is among them" Mathew 18:20. It is a miracle that they are safe and walked away with minor injuries only. We know God has his hand over this situation, and words cannot describe how thankful my family and I are for his intervention, sufficient grace, and mercy.
May God bless you all
With love and gratitude,
