GRAVE DANGER- SENIOR THESIS FILM

Justin Graves is just in time for grave danger!
After believing a young woman is forced to dance and perform against her will, Justin Graves sets off on a knight’s quest to rescue her. Except, this young maiden is actually an animatronic. In this sci-fi thriller, Justin will face many challenges, such as moving dolls and getting lost. But in the end, the ultimate challenge Justin will be facing is a reflection of himself.
Hello I am Isabella Nuñez, producer and assistant director of Grave Danger, and founder of this fundraiser. Rebecca and I have developed a close friendship over our past three years (and more) at Purchase College. In fact, we are so close we often refer to each other as "film twins!" With that being said, I am excited to embark on this film journey with Rebecca and hope you will help us on this valiant (knight's) quest.
Hello, I am Rebecca Moore, idea head behind Grave Danger. My concept behind this film is that I believe that a good knight's tale is always a fun adventure, but, we've already heard the age old tale of a knight saving his damsel in distress. What if we flip that on its head? Coming from someone who loves sci-fi, and already has experience writing it, this short will follow the journey of one brave man as he sets out on the expedition of the future! But wait, there's more!
It might be obvious by now that Grave Danger is stylized as a comedy. Yet, strip away the theatrics and actually at its core you find a scared, depressed, alone young adult. The real person needing saving is perhaps themself.
Justin Graves is this great up-and-coming theatre actor that has many achievements to his name. Though despite the fame, Justin truly feels that he is never enough and not needed. He doesn't want people to uncover this side of him, so he plays the facade of a hero. "Saving" people is a distraction from his true self, plus a way to feel needed and enough. Now it all leads to this moment, his most valiant hour, ready to save this woman, Tiffany, from the evil clutches of her captor Donnie Dawes! But Justin must come to face the fact that she doesn't need to be saved, or need him.
I guess now it's my most valiant hour, er, semester. My senior project is most dear to my heart because it is a culmination of everything I've ever made and how I've felt all my years in the art world. It's so easy to feel so depressed and like a fraud, or imposter, or that the work you do isn't good enough, so much so that you forget that people around you actually love you and what you do. Nevertheless, the realization that you are loved must come within, no matter what outside sources tell us.
In turn, I am always pushing myself to learn something new or do better in my work. But I still always want it to be a reflection of me. Therefore I always want to take my interests and put it into all my creations, which is why this film is a comedic sci-fi knight's tale with a deep message in the end.
This is my last project at Purchase and one of my biggest so creating it can't be done without the proper financial support. The money donated will help go towards food, transport, props, costumes, etc. needed to help this film come alive. Thank you for taking the time to read about this project. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing to your community. Thank you!
