Michael Scott Medical Expenses

Hi, I've started a GoFundMe for my brother Michael Scott (not the Dunder Miffin employee) who recently has been in and out of the hospital.

On August 10th, our family was notified that doctors had discovered a tumor within Michael's brain, to which we promptly named the tumor Steve. Thankfully, Steve was no match for the doctors at Tampa General Hospital and Steve was removed within the week of discovery. The initial surgery went as smooth as you would imagine brain surgery would go. Michael was bummed to have lost his new friend Steve, but Steve had made a lasting impression which resulted in Michael having to stay in the ICU for approximately ten days post surgery. Figuratively, Steve had haunted us for an entire week until pathology results came back and deemed him benign (phew).

Late August, Michael was discharged from the ICU and got to enjoy a little bit of Florida sunshine before traveling back to New Jersey to resume his normal life. He even experimented with sporting a cool, new mustache. Things were going well and Michael was so excited to be back in New Jersey.

Today, Michael found himself back in the hospital with some alarming new symptoms. A combination of being post brain surgery and an already weakened immune system from a life long autoimmune disease left him exposed to various infections and viruses. Michael tested positive for COVID, in conjunction with some of his levels being a bit out a whack.

Michael is a strong guy, mentally and physically. Unfortunately, Michael knows that he is strong which means he would never ask for help. I'm hoping to not only raise the money Michael would eventually need for the medical expenses accrued from the past month but to show Michael the support he undoubtedly deserves.

If you didn't already know, Michael is the epitome of a near perfect person within a family/community. He puts others first, always. He is the first to celebrate other's accomplishments and dismiss his own with a sincere and humble attitude. When Michael is not working his very important job as an emergency dispatcher, he uses his free time to volunteer at the local firehouse as a volunteer firefighter. On top of going above and beyond for his community, he is the best brother / uncle / son / cousin / nephew anyone could ask for. He shows up to any and every family event. He brings the family together when the rest of us get caught up in life's minuscule tasks. Personally, Michael will send random "Hi, I miss you text messages" to me - a small, yet highly impactful gesture. He knows the value of the little things in life and I truly believe we all are indebted to his generosity and kindness.

Does anyone know how much brain surgery costs? Or an extended stay in the ICU? I don't. I couldn't even find coupons for these things.
