75,000 Steps for Gorgeous George
Donation protected
Hearing so much about George’s story Isla Hemmings wanted to do something to help raise money to get him home, so this weekend, with the help of four of her friends, these five beautiful girls are walking 75,000 steps around Barton Village in the dark aiming to raise money and awareness for George.
Please donate whatever you can, it would mean the world to the girls and even more to George and his family.
About Gorgeous George:
Back in April 2021, at just 12 years old George who lives in Barton le Clay, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Following a 10 hour operation to remove 99% of the tumour, further tests confirmed it to be an aggressive tumour called Glioblastoma, a grade 4 brain Cancer.
Due to lack of funding in the UK Georges family has been forced to look elsewhere for treatment and clinical trials and has flown out to Germany where he received immunotherapy vaccines to boost the body’s immune system to fight cancer. He has also undergone numerous chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments.
Over the past few months George has become extremely poorly, and his family have flown him out to Los Angeles to join a clinical trial of CAR T-cell therapy, not available in the UK. Shortly after arriving in LA George was rushed to intensive care with extensive swelling on his brain causing him excruciating pain, sickness and to collapse. He has had to undergo further surgery to relieve this pressure on his brain in order to stabilise him enough to fly home as safely as possible so he can be with his Brother, Sister and the rest of the family and its now looking unlikely he will be able to join the clinical trial.
The extensive medical bills are mounting up at an unbelievable rate, costing $21,000 per day just for a bed in ICU, plus the added cost of the unexpected surgeries and other medical treatments necessary.
