My Mother, Kathy Walker, was recently diagnosed with cancer.
She went to the emergency room in Muskegon on 4/24/22 where doctors confirmed a tumor is on her pancreas.
On 4/26/22 she had surgery for a needle biopsy and during this surgery she received stent placement of her pancreas, liver and gallbladder due to the blockages.
This surgery confirmed her tumor is cancerous.
Her cancer and blockages have caused a severe and dramatic weight loss of 30+ lbs since December.
Due to the location of my mom‘s tumor it is inoperable.
Her journey with chemotherapy now begins.
We are hopeful that she will be selected for a new trial experiment called:
Panova-3 TT Fields.
As of right now my Moms treatment plan requires her to travel to Grand Rapids a minimum of 1-3X per week for chemotherapy, bloodwork and new scans.
I am reaching out seeking the generosity of our community, neighbors, family and friends for any financial contribution that you can spare to help my Mom.
All proceeds will be applied directly to her travel expenses for treatment, prescriptions and medical bills.
Anyone who knows “Nana” Kathy knows that she has always been 100% the caretaker.
My Mom had a very successful career as a loan officer that she quit to take care of her chronically ill husband, my Dad, full time .
My parents were married for 32 years.
Then her mother, my grandmother, suffered a stroke at 88 years old and my mom immediately cared for her as well.
My Mom lost both her husband and her mother, my dad and my grandma, in 2006 when they both passed away within 2 months of each other.
Nana Kathy decided at that point in her life her true calling was to be a caretaker for the elderly. For 7 days a week she took care of elderly people that all became like family to her and she grew to love them, but as they passed away and left her the grief that came with the loss just became too much for her to take.
For the next 10 years she started caring for dogs while their owners went on vacation. During this time NaNa Kathy also became a provider through the state of Michigan to be the caretaker of her favorite nephew who is blind and had a kidney and pancreas transplant. He lived with her for 3 1/2 years. Nana Kathy has worked at the local A&A minimart for years and she genuinely enjoys that job and she absolutely loves her customers most of all.
My mom was forced to quit working there, she’s been forced to give everything up due to the rapid decline of her health.
My kids, Bobby and Kloe, are 3yr old twins and it’s an understatement to say that they are the light of my mothers eyes - and I would say that feeling is VERY mutual for all 3 of them.
They always want to go to NaNa’s.
Bobby & Kloe need to have their Nana here and healthy for as many years as possible. NaNa to them is by far one of the greatest human beings of all time.
If you are unable to contribute financially -
I completely understand.
I will ask you to please take a moment and contribute to this cause by providing my Mother with as many prayers as you are willing to give.
Thank you.
God bless you.
