The Young's Journey Home

Donation protected
On Sunday, December 20th, Ken and Betty Young's lives changed in a traumatic way. Ken sustained a severe spinal cord injury after falling from his deer stand while hunting.
In the five days that have transpired since, Ken and Betty have found themselves in a situation nobody  EVER plans on being in. Ken is currently at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Betty, Shannon and Loren Purvis, and Kristin and Brian Rosevear (their daughters and sons-in-law) have not left Ken's side. Praise God, they received news on Wednesday that he was accepted at Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. After a lengthy evaluation with Shepherd staff, Ken and Betty and the girls feel so very fortunate to have been accepted to the nation's leading spinal hospital. Likely, Ken will enter Shepherd on Monday.
As part of that evaluation process for Shepherd, the life changing and lengthy journey to home and  life as they will come to know it became even more evident. The financial aspects of what this journey will entail cannot be ignored, either. Obviously, Ken will be unable to work for an indefinite amount of time. Betty will also be spending a large amount of time learning how to become Ken's support and primary caretaker going forward. Also, Ken will require in home care from skilled nurses and therapists at least for a time. The needs are still being revealed, literally, on a daily basis.
None of us can quite know or imagine the emotional, physical, financial and even spiritual toll The Young's are facing each and every day... hour to hour. The Young's are SO GRATEFUL for all of you that have called, texted, and especially PRAYED for them since Sunday. They covet your prayers now and moving forward! So many of you have asked what you can do to help. If you feel led to help them finacially, we have created this GoFundMe page to do just that.
Ken and Betty never imagined they would be in a situation as "empty nesters" and planners and hard-working people, that would lead them to "start over" in many ways. Modifications and renovations to their home are a priority, so that when Ken comes home he will have the access and capabilty to navigate their main floor and function as independently as possible.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, PRAYER, and support!!
