Hello Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Reaching A Child began as a project in 2016 when Ecuador, my home country, suffered a devastating earthquake. This occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2016, with the earthquake’s magnitude being 7.8 on the Richter scale. The biggest ever recorded earthquake was in 1960 in Chile and was a magnitude of 9.5 on the Richter scale. The earthquake Ecuador experienced in 2016 was the strongest to date in the nation’s history and also triggered a tsunami, furthering the number of victims and destruction.
When this happened, I was in New York where I have lived for most of my life now. It was heart wrenching to see on different media outlets how my native people were suffering, especially the children and elderly. Without thinking twice, I bought a plane ticket to Ecuador, and immersed myself into doing what God had put on my heart, to help others in whatever capacity I could. It was an unforgettable experience.
Since 2016, I have traveled to Ecuador every year in December to distribute toys and Christmas food baskets to impoverished families. In 2016, I started with only a few children and years later we are helping around 600 children. It’s amazing to see how God continues to provide for this project!
This year, we have set out to continue to make a difference. Each year has been more impactful than the last thanks to USI Employees, Experience Church, Friends, and Family. We appreciate our yearly contributors for their generous donations and prayers more than words can describe. Reaching A Child would like to invite you once again to be a part of this transformative project. Your continued participation allows us to tend to the needs of Ecuador’s children and families during the holiday season.
We hope you thoughtfully consider being a part of Reaching A Child 2023.
Thank you,
