James Harper medical expenses

Hi! My name is Amanda Greene. For quite some time now my family and I have been close to James, Angela, and Alyssa Harper. Lately their lives have been turned upside down unexpectedly with the plummet of James’s health. Out of nowhere, James has found himself in a very lengthy battle for his life. Even though they have medical insurance I am creating a go fund me to help with the expenses of being in a long hospital stay. All the traveling back and forth, parking, ambulance cost, and any specialized treatment/equipment is getting to be expensive.
So what has happened? James has been in ICU in the Houston medical center for 47 days straight snd counting now. Because he continues to have almost daily setbacks or life changing issues, he most likely will have to go to an acute long term care hospital then to rehab.
All of his trouble began on March 14, 2024 when James fell with his father in law’s laundry as James, Angela, and Alyssa are Angela’s widowed dad’s caregivers. He would then end up in the ER and two days be ambulanced out on March 16 to Houston from Port Arthur for what was believed to be a few days hospital stay from an ablation. However, the Harpers had no idea what was headed their way.
Upon arrival in Houston, James became quite swollen and confused. Within two days he would no longer be able to make a decision for himself, so Angela would become the sole decision maker. The first decision came to place James on dialysis as suddenly James lost all kidney function. This was just the start of rolling downhill. Soon it would be discovered that James had an infected aeorta valve alongside of afib. He would then have a cardio version along with other procedures to kick his heart back in normal rhythm. That was fixed but then his body would swell almost beyond recognition and everything would continue to be wacky. Three days later, James would undergo an 8 1/2 hour spine surgery because his entire spine was absessed with infection. Since then, the infection has spread to his brain, blood, and other areas causing brain bleeds, small strokes, possible permanent kidney failure, lack of swallowing, and more. He had a heart attack on April 11 as well leaving us for a few minutes. James is now on permanent dialysis along with a stomach feeding tube and a trach.
To this date, he has had over 25 surgical procedures/ tests or invasive interventions, 2 surgeries (one very major) and has been given blood about 7 times so far. This road is long from being over. Angela has been with James the majority of the time but has also been coming back and forth to continue to take care of her widowed father, her school, and support Alyssa in all of her college endeavors. Alyssa meanwhile has been going up every weekend to be with her dad and when necessary in between as well as taking care of her Grandpa. As you can imagine all of this is taking a toll on both Angela and Alyssa in many ways.
Their faith in the Lord is carrying Angela and Alyssa through this as they take each day step by step day by day. It would be greatly appreciated if you feel led to give to this family in their time of need. I know they would never directly ask for it themselves. If you cannot give, please cover them in prayer as well as all of James’s medical team. This is a very long road of unknown still ahead. Thank you for your support of this family.
“ The Lord sustains them on their sickbed, and restores them from their bed of illness.”
