Joey Garcia
Donation protected
My name is Jason, and I created this fundraiser for my little brother Joey whom our family lost on June 30th, 2022. I am the oldest brother of six siblings; our beloved Joey was the fourth baby to our amazing parents Yolanda and Alfredo. We have lost the kindest, most generous, and the most tender-hearted member of our family. As my family's been trying to recover from a series of unfortunate events these last few years, our loss of Joey is an absolute finishing event for each of us. As no dollar amount can put a price on my baby brother's life, we as a reunited family are asking for any small donation that will help us in the lowest and darkest time in our family history.
Above is a picture taken on June 28th, 2022 at 5:30 p.m., twelve hours before my brother Jimmy found Joey in his room seizing. Joey is the young man in glasses. We were celebrating my brother Jeff's homecoming back from California as he had just been in town for only 2 hours before this picture was taken. This picture shows the very first time that every single sibling was able to make a dinner outing. All six siblings together. All at the same time not knowing that this was also the last time we would ever have the opportunity to do so as it was also Joey's final meal. Joey had just celebrated his 23rd birthday on May 28th and just one month later, brain death was declared on June 29th, 2022, and we witnessed his last heartbeats and felt his last breath leave his body on June 30th, 2022.
Joey never hesitated to help his family out with anything that came up. He never asked for anything in return and was always a giving and kind soul. He never wanted to stress anyone out, so he never asked for help. This is why we think he said he was ok when my brother Jimmy noticed he was not normal just two hours before his seizure. Our baby brother simply did not want us to worry about him. I want to take this moment to do what our now angel would have done for any of us tenfold. We are asking for any donation that could help our family with just a small fraction of what will financially cost us exponentially more as we had two hospitals take him in and a Flight for Life transport in between.
Any funds donated will go directly and only related to my baby brother's expenses. A large majority will go to Joey's funeral costs. A small portion to assist my brother Jimmy with rent since Joey was responsible for half of their apartment's rent costs. And any remaining amount towards the hospital bills.
The Garcia family appreciates with gratitude beyond belief any donations. And in a few final words to my amazing baby brother: It was my pleasure to meet you, to get to know you, to grow up with you, and to have had the privilege to call you my brother. Each day from now on that goes by is a day closer to being back next to you and for that, I cannot wait to see you again; Rest in Peace, Rest in Power, we love you young King Joey Garcia.
