UPDATE: This campaign has ended and is no longer accepting donations.  If you are interested in donating to Kashers Kick Duchenne, please visit the Kasners Kick Duchenne website .

Thank you for all of the generous contributions.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy  is the #1 genetic killer of children worldwide. There are over 200,000 boys worldwide living with Duchenne, including 6-year old Caleb and 5-year old Duncan Kasner. Kids with DMD cannot produce dystrophin, a protein necessary for muscle strength and function.

The #79Challenge  was born to honor the 79 exons that are linked together to form the instructions for making dystrophin protein, a protein necessary for muscle strength and function. Caleb and Duncan are missing exons 6-17, causing the mutated dystrophin gene.

As friends of Kasners Kick Duchenne (KKD), we have been blown away and inspired by the outpouring of support through the #79Challenge. So much so, we have been inspired to set up a campaign and deepen the impact of the challenge.

Now through Monday, September 7, 2020, World Duchenne Day, friends of KKD invite supporters to consider making a monetary contribution to this campaign.

Why the goal of $7,900.00?

We are thrilled to announce campaign funds will be used to offset the production of an original children’s book all about Duchenne to be distributed to schools, hospitals, families and anyone who is interested in receiving a resource to learn more about Duchenne. Featuring Caleb and Duncan, the book titled  'Today is My Strongest Day,' is being lovingly written by Jess St. Germaine with input from the Kasner family. Illustrations for the book are being graciously donated by Dean St. Germaine.

Additionally, funds raised above and beyond the goal amount will be used to support Duchenne research and to assist the Kasner family with expenses incurred while raising their two Duchenne warriors.

In the spirit of the challenge, donations that include 7 and/or 9 are encouraged (e.g. $7.00, $9.00, $79, $90, $179, $279, $379, $790 and so on) but any denomination is welcome to help us reach the goal.

The original #79Challenge isn’t going away and we still want the world to show the Kasners how so many of us are #motivatedbymuscles and #livingwithintention through activities. Even if supporters elect to not contribute financially, we hope everyone will continue to participate in the physical activities for the challenge. Looking for inspiration for activities? We’ll be posting ideas several times each week on the Kasners Kick Duchenne Instagram  and Facebook  accounts throughout the campaign. Let’s all come together to do some good and even have some fun as we continue to fight for an end to Duchenne.

We know the Kasner family continues to receive love and financial support from a community across the world; we hope this fundraiser will help continue to drive awareness of the research needed to help end Duchenne by creating a resource that can be easily shared to audiences today and into the future.

Thank you ahead of time for participating in any way you can!

With love and gratitude,
Friends of KKD
