79th street DANCE TEAM FIRE RECOVERY FUND
Donation protected
Hi, my name is —-, I go by the name of Barbie Jones. I have been a dance coach and have provided a safe place and dance program for the youth of the Englewood and Auburn Gresham community to have for over — years. Not only have we built bonds through an art form, we have become family.
On May 19, 2020, I got one of the the most horrifying calls I could get-that the building where I’ve been planted for the last —years was on fire.
As I immediately rushed to the scene, all I could think about were my babies, and them seeing where we’ve built so many memories, to literally become ashes. I also couldn’t think of anything but the families I’ve bonded with, who lived above our studio who were losing their homes.
MBM dance studio lost everything, and now as we cope with this tragic event, I have to prepare myself to rebuild all over again. I have to press hard to get back and create an even better place for my youth participants, or as I like to call them, my babies.
I’m asking for you to donate and share our story in hopes and belief that we can rebuild again and provide an even better and safer place for the youth.
My goal is $25,000. This will help us find a new location, and replace everything we lost ie:, major equipment, belongings of the youth participants, dance wear, and everything else that made us who we are. We can not do this alone. Please find it in your heart to bless these youth with what is for many, a new home.
Thank you in advance for your help.
