Help Emily Fight Leukemia

We are raising funds on behalf of our friends, Emily and Will Farnon.

Emily was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2023.

While traveling on a work trip in Connecticut, Emily experienced an episode of collapse. In the ER, her blood work showed an elevated white blood cell count that was extremely high (20x the upper limit). She was moved to the ICU and diagnosed with leukemia; she started IV chemotherapy at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut shortly after. Due to Emily's condition, she will remain in Connecticut for chemotherapy treatment for the time being. Her parents and husband, Will, are with her in Connecticut. Their 18-month-old son, Noah, remains in Illinois with Will's parents. 

Emily has been responding well to the first round of chemotherapy and is in good spirits. The next round of chemotherapy will take 14 days and the specific medication required for this next round is $16,000. Since she is still in the early stages of treatment, it's unclear how much insurance will cover.

There are many unknowns at this stage of treatment. If Emily continues to respond well to chemotherapy, her doctors believe she may be able to return home in approximately two weeks where she will continue treatment at a local Chicago-area hospital. Emily and Will may need to stay in Connecticut longer-term for continued treatment depending on her response, so they are trying to prepare for either scenario.
