Tranquil Methodist Church

Tranquil Methodist Church has been a landmark in Monroe County, Mississippi since the first church was built on this site in 1847. Nestled among ancient oak trees off Highway 45, it has long provided a place of refuge for weary travelers along the highway and along the road of life. For generations of families, it has provided spiritual sanctuary as well as community events. Countless weddings, showers, easter egg hunts, Vacation Bible Schools and more were held for the community. It was destroyed during the catastrophic EF4 tornado that ravaged Mississippi on Friday, March 24, 2023. The church community needs all of the help they can get as they work through the ruins of the church, numerous trees, as well as the cemetery.
My name is Laura King, from Amory, Mississippi. I became a member of Tranquil Church as a child, and my parents, Ricky and Paula Gillentine, are both lay leaders in the church today. This account is linked directly to the church itself, with the unanimous approval of all members as well as their pastor. All funds will be handed directly to the church to assist with efforts to remove what has been destroyed and attempts to salvage what can be salvaged to be used in the new church building that will be erected on this same site.
