Healing Holly

Imagine you are living your best life.  You and your soulmate, both entrepreneurs with a home you love and a life you love even more.  Then suddenly you receive the devastating news that the love of your life has stage four cancer.  Suddenly, you are no longer entrepreneurs running businesses - you are a medical taxi, a medical assistant, your partner's legal assistant, and patient advocate.  There is no time to grieve the very real pending loss of the man you were to spend the rest of your life with.   Just like that, your world is turned upside down - the life you once had is no longer.

This is exactly what happened to my good friends Holly and Jake.  After selling the businesses, the house and all their life belongings Holly began a journey to discover what her life without Jake would be. Then unexpectedly tragedy struck again.  Holly developed medical issues of her own which included a medevac helicopter transport, open heart surgery and a long recuperation period due to underlying diabetes.

Now Holly is faced with a loss of her retail manager's job for exceeding the time allowed for medical leave. Holly's condition prevents her from working the required long hours on cement floors, the ability to lift 75lb and long hours covering unexpected employee shortages.  Losing her job means the loss of medical coverage as well.

With her savings depleted - it's gone - all of it- Holly is faced with a humbling reality - for the first time in her life she is unable to sustain her own modest expenses or finishing paying her extensive medical bills - and those medical bills are piling up...

 AZ has denied her benefits, SSI has denied her coverage and she may be on the verge of losing her housing.     While she continues to battle the government paperwork her immediate needs are very real.  It is scary to find yourself alone in the world with no safe harbor. 

The funds raised will go to paying down $4000 in medical expenses and the balance will give Holly peace of mind while she pursues appeals of her benefits.
