Remembering Ethan
Donation protected
On February 13, my brother Andy and his wife Gretchen lost their son Ethan to a 3.5-year battle with cancer.
Ethan battled courageously and silently. In fact, many people didn’t realize what he was going through and the family always respected his wish for privacy. Through all of this, Ethan lived a rewarding and active life. His parents did all they could to make sure that he always had things to look forward to. Both Andy and Gretchen were happy to take extra time off from work to go on trips or do things that they knew Ethan would love. They devoted their time and energy to giving him the best years possible. They count it a blessing that they were able to be there with him when times were good and when he needed them the most.
I want to start this Go Fund Me because I know so many of you want to know how to help, but in the face of something like this, we feel powerless. Perhaps we can lessen some of the financial stress caused by the expenses that are incurred when a family member battles a long illness and passes away. Gretchen and Andy are both self-employed and I’m sure that going back to work right away will no doubt be difficult. A little extra financial support will make that easier.
Ethan was a remarkable young man. He will be missed by many. I’m sure the family will appreciate any support that is sent their way. My brother has already told me how much everyone’s text messages and phone calls have meant. I know there is nothing that we can do that will bring Ethan back into their lives but if we can alleviate any financial stress it will help them concentrate on more important things.
Thank you for your support through all of this to everyone that has reached out to Andy, Gretchen, My parents, and my family as well. Your kind words and ongoing support will make a difference.
