Cornwall Saracens Basketball Club , We need your help !

We are a grassroots club , solely run by volunteers who feel passionate about involving young people in sport.

We currently have over 400 young people playing basketball in Cornwall from the age of 6 to our U/18s and we want to reach more. We run community, regional and national league sessions including a wheelchair team.

The Cornwall Saracens Basketball Club was founded by a group of enthusiastic basketball lovers who shared a common vision: to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals of all ages and skill levels could come together to play, learn, and grow. Over the years, we have evolved into a thriving basketball community that prides itself on fostering both athletic excellence and camaraderie.

We have partnerships to the University of Gloucester and Plymouth Marjon University for our players who wish to continue playing basketball in Higher Education. Locally we have strong links with Penryn /Penwith and Truro Colleges and Treviglas Academy.

Running costs for the club are high and we would like to raise some money so we can offer more to local communities and improve our current provision. We have a long, long wish list , everything from kit and equipment , access to a minibus , improving local community courts , right up to our dream of our own facility.

Saracens enables local kids to compete at a national level, introducing those children to a world beyond Cornwall. However, this is reliant on families being able to afford transport and travelling costs. Access to a minibus could open up National Basketball to many more children.

Currently families pay a monthly fee which only covers venue hire and equipment but this is not sufficient to allow growth. Access and affordability in sport is a big problem in Cornwall along with poor local sport provision and lack of other engaging local activities for children and young adults. For this reason we need to keep our fees affordable for our local families.

Saracen’s dream is not only to provide this fantastic resource for families who can afford it , but to open this up to families who are unable to cover monthly fees and associated travel expenses.

43 neighbourhoods in Cornwall are among the most 20% deprived areas in the country and 17 neighbourhoods are among the most 10% deprived.

With your help we can make a huge difference to young people in Cornwall and get them involved in this fantastic sport.
