Derek’s Recovery

On Saturday, July 13th, Derek was involved in a motorcycle accident on his way home from work. Due to a soft road patch, he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected from his bike, resulting in 3 brain bleeds (TBI) and 70% road rash covering his body. Due to his TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and extensive road rash, he needs 24/7 supervision and care for at least 3 weeks.

Wound care 2-3 times daily which takes about 1.5hr each time.

Also while in the hospital, Michelle received a call from their oldest daughter saying lightening had just struck the tree in their yard and fell on Derek's truck.

It just keeps coming. Derek and his wife Michelle both work full-time jobs and have 6 children to care for. Derek will be out of work for a minimum of 3 weeks, and Michelle will be taking time off to tend to his wound care. The financial strain of medical bills, time off work, and extra care for Derek's injuries is overwhelming for the family.
