Rio Spurr

As you may have seen over the past few days or so, my best friend Tommy Spurr and his wife Chloe have had the devastating news that their 3 year old son, Rio, has got stage 4 cancer.

The type of cancer he has is an extremely rare form called ‘Wilms Tumour’ which has now also spread to his lungs. He will now undergo a very intense programme of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

As a result of this Tommy and Chloe have had to drastically reduce their work schedule which has added pressure to the family at an already incredibly tough time.

My 8 year old son Archie wants to help and has decided to run 3km every day for the month of July.

I’m incredibly proud of him for wanting to do this but also thankful.

Tommy, Chloe, Rio and Rudy mean the world to us as a family.

Not only was Tommy an incredible footballer but he’s an incredible man who would do anything for anybody. I know the ‘Football family’ will come together and support Tommy, Chloe, Rio and Rudy.
