Adavale flooding– A Small Outback Town in Need
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kirstin, and I’m a proud family member and homeowner in Adavale, a resilient little town in outback Queensland that has been devastated by catastrophic flooding.
As a community, we are strong, but the recent inundation has left many of us with little to nothing. Homes have been destroyed, belongings washed away, and the place we love has been left in ruins. The road to recovery will be long, and the need for support is urgent.
The incredible Quilpie community has opened their arms to us, offering shelter, food, and kindness in our time of need. We are beyond grateful for their generosity, but now we need to gather the funds so that when we return home to the devastation, we have the resources to rebuild.
The impact of this flood has been overwhelming. Many of our families didn’t know the water and flooding were coming until some of us heard it on ABC Radio. Communication lines were down—mobile phone reception cut out, power was turned off, and even Starlink failed when our vehicles were submerged in water and our inverters were useless. It felt like a towering wave, meters high, surging toward the town. The sheer force of this massive surge swept away belongings, some of which were spotted by choppers high up in the trees, as we have not been able to return home to see the devastation ourselves. There was no warning of just how severe this would be.
We have an incredible community of strong-willed and hardworking people, including many retirees who have called Adavale home for years. While insurance claims and damage assessments are still a long way from being finalized, people need help now. It will most likely be weeks before we can return to our homes, making immediate support even more critical.
We are asking for your support—any contribution, big or small, will go directly to those affected. Funds raised will be distributed through the Adavale Rodeo Association to ensure they reach everyone who needs assistance in our community.
Your kindness will help our families rebuild their lives, restore their homes, and return to the place we love. From all of us in Adavale, we send our heartfelt thanks in advance for your generosity and support.
Every little bit helps. Please share and donate if you can. Together, we will rebuild Adavale.
