I have non-gmo food-grade tofu soybeans in a field. This is good. I also have a lot of herbicide-resistant weeds in the field. This is not so good.
But there's no weed I've seen thats resistant to a cultivator and good-old hand-weeding. (Although Burdock root gives you a good workout). And there's always fire.
There's also rain, and things never quite go as expected in farming. This effort was originally to fund purchase of a used 16 row cultivator that would match the planter width. But that would remove the ground cover between the rows, which might be good for yields this year, but bad for next year as climate change makes 2 to 4 inch an hour rains, washed out roads, and 100 year floods every other year the new normal.
What I need is non-chemical weed control, and the ability to get into a wet field without burying the farm equipment in a mudhole. You can see some pictures (and eventually CAD drawings) once the provisional patent has been filed.
