My friend, Amanda Frantz, went to different doctors for more than a year trying to find out what was going on with her. She begged for help. The doctors found nothing wrong and insinuated she was seeking pain meds. Which, by the way, she never got from them. They were further from the truth.
On February 10th, she went to the ER at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR with intense abdomen and back pain. She was throwing up and could barely breath. The ER doctor diagonsed, ran tests confirming and immediately admitted her into the hospital that night for Nacrotizing Pancreatitis. She was in ICU early the next morning. During the next two days she had complete kidney failure and was put on life support. She was on a ventilator, had a feeding tube and had dialysis while in ICU. She wasn't expected to survive the ordeal. Her chances of survival decreased daily until the 6th day on life support. That day seemed as though the clouds opened and sun rays came beaming through! Prayers were being answered. By the grace of God, Amanda made a turn that very few expected. Had it not been for God answering the faithful prayers of her mother, brothers, family, friends and Christains around the world, she wouldn't have survived.
Her life has changed as she knew it. As of today, she's been in the hospital for 29 days. Her wedding that was scheduled 9 days from now, March 19th has been postponed. Despite all the things that have happened these last few weeks, her spirits are good. She's still the same tenderhearted and loving person she's always been. She still manages to reach out to comfort and encourage others who are in need even from her hospital bed. She's the greatest friend anyone could have.
She has pseduocysts (blisters) that have formed on her pancreas. Once they've matured enough to be dealt with, she'll be transferred to a hospital in a different state that specializes in the management of necrotizing pancreatitis for further treatment. Until then, she has to patiently keep doing what she's been doing. Trusting in God, knowing He will continue to provide her every need.
Besides dealing with her recovery, Amanda won't be able to work for some time. Along with her normal bills of everyday life, she's accumulated numerous medical bills that will continue to increase.
I've known Amanda since college. She's consistently sacrificed and jumped in feet first to help others in need regardless the reason. Several of our friends, not just me, got our heads together and decided we wanted to raise money to help with her bills. She's still in the hospital; for more than a month now, 14 of those days in ICU, and anticipating a transfer to another hospital, she has bills mounting. The last thing we want is for her to have to worry about them.
It is our prayer, if you're reading this and are able, that your heart will be moved to contribute. It is also our prayer that anyone who may be experiencing symptoms that no doctor can pinpoint, that you never give up until you find a definite answer for whatever it is going on inside your body. Amanda nearly died while trying and hoping to get answers as to why she was sick. We thank God for the team of doctors and medical staff she has at Washington Regional that have been and still are caring for her.
She's still ill. She will have complications for a very long time; if not always. Please, pause and say a prayer for Amanda whether you can donate or not.
Thank you for the prayer.
If you were able, thank you for your contribution.
