Sears Family Adoption
The Sears family is ADOPTING again!!!.....In case you are new to our story I will introduce you to our family and our journey. Brandon and I,
Sharissa have been married for 12 years. Brandon was born and raised in the cattle industry, and continues to work in that field today! I am a former teacher,
now stay at home mama who homeschools our own 4 children, we have a bonus daughter who is 14 years old, and lives and goes to school in Texas!
When God brought us together 12 years ago, adopting had always been a part of our hearts! He blessed us with 3 biological children. Tinsley is our 11 year old, Luxyn is 8 years old, and Ridge is 3 (almost 4!). Our adoption journey started in 2017 when we were made aware of the orphan situation in China. Shortly after exploring adoption from China, I came across an advocacy post on Facebook of a picture of a little boy who deemed “difficult to match” because of his unknown delays and refusal to smile in any of pictures and videos.
Without question my mama heart knew he was extremely heartbroken due to living in an institution and having no family to call his own!
It was a difficult, miraculous, journey that was meant to grow us as Christians, to learn to lean on God even when the outcome looked bleak! While we were waiting to be preapproval from the Chinese government a massive shift in China’s requirements changed and a bomb was dropped on the China adoption world.
After 63 days of waiting for news we learned we were given special permission to adopt that little boy that refused to smile :). To this day no one ( even our agency) can understand how we were allowed to continue. We stepped up and said yes, and God did MOVED and made it happen!
We did a large fundraiser and personally, with a team of volunteers, made over 3,000 pizzas to fund our adoption. We raised over 35,000 and we know that becauseof people like you we were able to bring our son home!
Fast forward to April 2020. We were made aware of a sibling group that came into care in the African country of Liberia Again we felt God calling us to take action. We were made aware of the dire situation in Africa when the lockdown started. In a continent absolutely ravaged by Ebola, people are terrified of COVID-19. Knowing that it is difficult to find families for siblings groups, we are saying yes again! We are starting our journey to bring these 3 siblings home! The expense of adopting 3 is much greater than adopting a single child. As the cost of many things is tripled, We are asking you to keep these 3 children in your prayers and we ask that you partner with us to bring them home! No amount is too small! Please share our story and thank you for your kindness!
