Justice for Oakley
“NEW CASE AND PSA: Oakley was a happy go lucky 5-month old boxer puppy. He was a regular attendee of Buffalo Barks dog daycare facility, located in Tonawanda, New York.
On March 30, 2020...the owner of Buffalo Barks, David Vanini, suggested to Oakley's owner that he would put Oakley in a yard with "the big dogs." Recognizing that was a bad idea, Oakley's owner definitively told Vanini not to do that. On April 2, 2020... he did so anyway. Vanini then called Oakley's owner at 3:30 that day... saying Oakley had been killed by another dog.
As bad as it is... this story doesn't stop there. Buffalo Barks covered up how this death occurred. They left Oakley dead for hours while they got their story straight. They then took Oakley's dead body not to his usual vet... but to their own vet at Harris Hill Animal Hospital.
Buffalo Barks is not providing the full video to the family, who desperately want and need the answers that we will get for them.
It gets worse. It appears no one was outside watching while Oakley was being attacked. No one heard his screams as his 5-month old life was being torn from his body. No one was watching as numerous other dogs have been killed or almost killed at this facility.
Our job is to make sure their lives weren't lost in vain. Vanini's defiance of Oakley's owner's directive not to let Oakley play with the bigger dogs, and then leaving him unattended as he was killed doesn't just give rise to a civil suit, which we will file. His reckless conduct also constitutes the crime of reckless endangerment of property, in violation of Penal Law §145.25. Tonawanda Police should hold Vanini accountable for this unnecessary bloodshed at his place of business.
We will do everything in our power to make sure that Oakley and the others dogs get the justice they deserve.” (This excerpt was written and posted by our attorney)
