Stand with Emily Riley in Her Leukemia Battle

Please help save my daughter Emily who is 10 and fighting Leukemia! Any donation would be greatly appreciated!

Emily is a 10 year old who is full of life, love and spunk. She is the sweetest person anyone would meet who is observant of others and always the first one who wants to help! She loves animals, singing, school and her family. On Wednesday April 2nd we were a typical family going to work and school then the next day we received an urgent call from her PCP stating her labs were very abnormal and we would need to rush to the local Cooks ER.

When the call was received and I heard her WBC and Hemoglobin was extremely low, I had a sinking feeling in my gut no mother should endure. I feared the worst like us mothers always do but this time I really thought my overbearing and protectiveness that overcame me in her younger years was going to rear it's ugly head now. See kiddos with Trisonomy 21 or Down syndrome are more pravalent in developing Leukemia however, typically in earlier years. Her first 5 years of life I was haunted in my sleep and panick set in with every bruise or rash which I rushed her into her PCP to be told all is fine. As I hang up the phone and prepare to head to the ER I prayed the hardest, begging that this time was a fluke, everything will be ok like the previous trips but deep down I have never been so scared.

ER staff was waiting for Emily and it did not take long for the kind ER doctor to confirm the suspicion of Leukemia. He confirmed her labs were so off with all indicators pointing to this blood cancer. See Emily’s body was becoming overtaken by cancer cells in her blood which made her severely anemic and she was rushed to PICU for blood and platelet transfusions. Once there, the oncologist was waiting for us and approached us with comapssion and sympathy in his eyes with confirmation: we ARE now battling Leukemia.

Today is day 15 in patient on the oncology hall with an expected 2 more weeks! Emily is considered high risk and requires close monitoring. Total treatment plan is 2 years. I'm asking tod

ay for help from the community for medical expenses and to sustain our home life as I have had to quit my job as a social worker to now advocate for my daughter. My daughter needs me by her side through this heartache and scary ordeal.

Emily will prevail, she will fight this cancer with dignity, bravery, strength and love. We invite you stand by her side and help her battle her long journey.
