Its aBott Time for a New Kidney: Tori's Transplant
Donation protected
When Tori Bott was 3 months old, Doctors told my parents that she would be severely mentally delayed and will probably need to be institutionalized. She has fought and continues to fight and against all odds has proved them wrong. Here is her story:
At 3 months, she started having seizures and was ultimately diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis (TS), a rare disease that causes tumors, or growths in the brain and other organs. She is 24 years old now and has been on medication her entire life. She had only been seizure free for the last year, however she lives with the realization that another seizure could occur at anytime.
And Then...
When Tori was 13 years old, she was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), which causes numerous cysts all over her kidneys and liver. As a result, she is now in Stage 5 kidney failure. She is currently undergoing dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours.
And Then...
When Tori was 17 years old, she was diagnosed with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), which causes cysts throughout her lungs. LAM has caused her lungs to fully collapse 4 times, resulting in 3 lung pleurodesis surgeries (Very painful!!)
Her next battle: A Kidney Transplant...
We are very lucky to have the most amazing Mom, Mary Bott, who has been approved to be her kidney donor!! We are finally scheduled for surgery on November 12th, 2019! With this amazing news, comes great financial hurdles and unforeseen medical expenses!
As part of the recovery process, they will need to go to/from the hospital 3 -4 times a week and on top of that, the hospital is about 1 hour and 30 minutes North from our home, which makes things even more difficult... After a lot of thought, My parents have decided to stay at a Residence Inn that is close proximity to the hospital for the first month and a half of her 3 month long recovery. As a result, this adds a very large expense for them on top of the medical bills, prescriptions, and unexpected expenses.
And Then...
*After the 3 month long recovery, Tori will have to undergo ANOTHER major surgery to remove her native kidneys due to the PKD/TS....
For all these reasons... Alexis and I have decided to start this fundraiser to raise money for our sister’s kidney transplant recovery and to help alleviate the financial burden on my parents during this incredibly tough time.
With every battle she has faced, she has come out even stronger than before (if that's even possible)!
We THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers. We will keep you all updated throughout this journey.
With love,
Emily & Alexis Bott ♥
