Wayne Brown Needs Your Help...

(First of all, we made a mistake that we hope you will not make. We were without insurance for July and August, because... what can happen in 2 months before September when our new policy kicks in, right?)
Not to be a buzz kill, but what can/did happen was a midnight seizure followed by a c/t scan discovery of an aggressively fast growing brain tumor and no time to wait for the new insurance policy to be in effect.)
My husband of 34 years, Wayne Brown, always amazes me with the people he knows and the things/careers he has had. Surf board shaper and surf industry pioneer with his surf shop on PCH in 70's Huntington Beach. Skateboard maker and manufacturer of the Wayne Brown KickTail Skateboard, wetsuit company owner of Aleeda Wetsuits in the '80's and 90's, sponsor of countless groms and future legends too numerous to mention... (Burchell, Neishi, Reehl, Meyling- Small, the Livingstons, Purpus, Chris Barela, Rob Machado, Matt Kechele, Holland, the Hobgoods, Rich Rudolph, Richie Collins, Mungal, Parmenter, Comen, Peter Mel, Lisa Andersen, skate legend Steve Olson, body boarders JP Patterson, Pat Caldwell, Jack Lindolm, Jay Real, Gina Monetti... and I know that I don't know so many others... These are just a few! So please make comments and fill in the blanks of the people I missed, okay?)
Then we started our Network Marketing careers together as mentors and public speakers working with and learning from the best of the best in that industry. (Again too numerous to mention... but I have to say most influenced by mentor/best friend Richard Ellis, Bob Crisp, Harvey Conner, Kathy Robbins and Paula Pritchard) Our VERY exended family from our networking career continues to grow by the day and we are grateful for each and every one of you.
But this is a time of need. We initially went to JFK Hospital 5 miles from our house when Wayne had his initial incident (seizure/stroke like) at midnight July 6.
He was admitted for 2 days and a c/t scan followed by an MRI showed a mass of 1.2cm on he right portion of his brain. His symptoms lasted for only 25 - 30 seconds and then he was 100% normal within 10 minutes. He was released with a couple of anti seizure meds and instructions to follow up with a neurologist in a week which we did. The neurologist scheduled another MRI for September to compare the 2 in order to see if it was growing. The September date was good - insurance in place again!
But then syptoms of slurred speach and more showed up and we decided on good advice to go to UCLA for a second opinion.
On Monday, August 10, we had an appointment with a UCLA Neurologist. After 15-20 minutes of starting the interview we were being walked/escorted by the Doctor to the ER for immediate admission! The tumor had grown from 1.2cm on July 7 to over 3cm on August 10!
A team of doctors this morning outlined the next few days with extreme urgency and the cost of that urgency and bottom line is WE NEED YOUR HELP! The costs for the next week of tests and surgeries will be in excess of $150,000. Please. We need your help.
We have been able to pay (about $50K) for the earlier JFK Emergency Room, hospital stay, and tests and the ER stay at UCLA so far but we need as much help as we can get for the next weeks worth of tests, surgeries, procedures and care. Insurance will take over in 3 weeks for post-op and whatever (chemo?) we are faced with then, but to be able to do what must be done now we need your help in 2 ways.
FIRST - Any financial support... ANY... is very much appreciated.
Second - Please pass this on to your friends. Wayne has in one way or another made a difference in a lot of peoples lives. Maybe if you pass this on, one or more of those people can make a big difference in Wayne's life at this moment.
Thank you for your unbelievable kindness and support.
