Planting the Seed...in Sandtown

Donation protected

June 15, 2023, BALTIMORE MD

God is TRULY blessing this ministry! The Sandtown Church of Christ went from being homeless since the COVID pandemic to being able to purchase (with no mortgage) a building to use for worship, study, and outreach. God is still providing what is needed.

Demolition was completed in July and work on the facade started in August. And, we are now the proud owners of the adjacent properties, 803-807 N. Mount Street -- we will have plenty of room to expand when the time is right! AIN'T GOD GOOD?!

This Capital Campaign GoFundMe is the first step to reaching our goal. The brickmason, Mr. Brown, has just completed demo of the interior wall dividing the space. Now it is wide open and we can begin systems installation and update, and interior cosmetics. With just a few more months of renovations, we can begin using the building. We humbly call on the brotherhood to support these efforts. Please share this GoFundMe page with those in your circle. Every penny counts!

More information about the continuing renovation will be forthcoming.

Since 2015, in the wake of the rioting following the death of Freddy Gray, members of the church of Christ have been evangelizing and performing outreach in the Sandtown-Winchester and Harlem Park communities of West Baltimore, Maryland. Over the years, these communities have experienced extreme poverty, economic depression, high addiction rates, and high rates of joblessness and crime. To meet the needs of these communities, the church of Christ has stood in the gap to deliver services and provide spiritual education. In addition to weekly bible studies for children and adults, the church of Christ is meeting the needs of the community through community clean-ups, sponsoring a free community health fair, conducting backpack and school supply giveaways, and coordinating clothing giveaways. Beginning in September 2017, the church of Christ worshipped at the Lillian Jones Recreation Center in Sandtown-Winchester. In September 2018, the Church of Christ in Sandtown was established, and in 2019 the Church of Christ in Sandtown obtained federal tax exemption and is classified as a 501(c)3 organization.

Now, in 2022, the church of Christ is preparing for renovations of its own worship and community outreach space. Demolition has been completed and the renovations are underway!!
God has truly blessed us!

Since this work began, nearly 30 souls have obeyed the Gospel and been baptized into Christ. To continue this life-changing, soul-saving work in our new home base, your donations are needed. All donations will be used for the sole purpose of preparing our worship and community outreach space, and for continuing to fund the mission work in the Sandtown-Winchester and Harlem Park communities.
