Sevrien est un petit bout de femme de 37 ans, maman d’Emy, une petite fille de 3 ans et la compagne de Boris, un homme qui se bat au quotidien avec elle depuis des mois. En effet, en novembre dernier, Sevrien détecte une petite boule suspecte au niveau de l’aisselle. Quelques jours plus tard, le verdict tombe : elle est atteinte d’un cancer du sein triple négatif au stade 3. Ce cancer est très agressif et peu de solutions existent. En effet, si le cancer du sein se soigne globalement de mieux en mieux, avec un taux de survie à 5 ans passé de 85 % à 91 % entre 2000 et 2019 (chiffre pharma.be), le cancer du sein triple négatif reste le parent pauvre en termes de traitements thérapeutiques. Ces cancers agressifs, qui représentent 15% des cancers du sein, et qui touchent particulièrement des femmes de moins 40 ans, ont un pronostic sombre, avec un taux de survie à 5 ans d’environ 20%.

Depuis novembre 2020, Sevrien enchaine les chimiothérapies et a subi une mastectomie. En juin, les résultats du petscan ne sont pas bons, le cancer est devenu métastatique : les os sont touchés. Sevrien se relance dans un autre traitement. Nouveau bilan fin de ce mois de septembre : les métastases se sont étendues au foie et aux poumons.

Des mois de traitements lourds et difficiles avec des hauts et des bas, beaucoup de courage, mais jamais de résignation. Mais là, les médecins se résignent et donnent un espoir de survie de maximum un an. Le temps presse, mais impossible pour Sevrien de rejoindre des essais cliniques en cours actuellement.

Il existe d’autres traitements à l’étranger, une promesse de s'en sortir. D’autres protocoles qui laissent entrevoir la possibilité de gagner du temps sur la maladie. Mais son coût est de 200.000€, impayable pour un couple dont les revenus sont ceux de l’assurance maladie, et quand votre compagnon a celui de conjoint aidant. Et oui, heureusement qu’il est là pour s’occuper d’Emy et du reste quand la lourdeur des traitements empêche Sevrien de tenir debout.

Le choix se porte maintenant sur l’immunothérapie, une nouvelle option thérapeutique porteuse d'espoir pour les patientes. Si la chimiothérapie et la radiothérapie visent à détruire directement les cellules cancéreuses, l’immunothérapie a pour objectif de rendre les cellules cancéreuses de nouveau détectables par le système immunitaire. Celui-ci peut à nouveau les reconnaître comme "élément anormal" et en provoquer naturellement la destruction.

Une autre option est aussi envisagée avec un nouveau type de chimiothérapie. Quel que soit le traitement retenu, les deux sont aussi couteux. Vu les sommes colossales à trouver rapidement, nous ne pouvons attendre d’avoir une certitude sur le traitement choisi. Et commencer cette récolte de fonds sans plus tarder.

 

C’est insensé de devoir trouver un tel montant pour sauver une vie ! Nous, sa famille, ses amis, ses collègues sommes prêts à remuer ciel et terre pour permettre à Sevrien de bénéficier d’un autre traitement. Il nous faut récolter minimum 20 000€ chaque mois, pendant 10 mois.

Sevrien is een 37-jarige vrouw, moeder van Emy, een meisje van 3 en de echtgenote van Boris, een man die al maandenlang aan haar zijde staat.  Afgelopen november, ontdekte Sevrien een klein verdacht gezwel in haar oksel.  Een paar dagen later was het vonnis gevallen: ze had tripel negatief borstkanker stadium 3. Deze vorm van kanker is zeer agressief en er zijn weinig oplossingen. Hoewel borstkanker over het algemeen steeds beter verzorgd wordt met een 5-jarig overlevingspercentage dat tussen 2000 en 2019 gestegen is van 85% naar 91% (cijfers pharma.be), blijft triple-negatieve borstkanker het stiefkind wat therapeutische behandelingen betreft. Deze agressieve kankers, die 15% van de borstkankers uitmaken en vooral vrouwen onder de 40 treffen, hebben een slechte prognose, met een 5-jarig overlevingspercentage van ongeveer 20%.

Sinds november 2020 ondergaat Sevrien chemotherapie en heeft ze een mastectomie ondergaan.  In juni zijn de resultaten van de PET scan niet goed, de kanker is uitgezaaid: de botten zijn getroffen.  Sevrien begon een andere behandeling. Een nieuwe evaluatie eind september: de uitzaaiingen waren verder  uitgezaaid naar de lever en de longen.   

Maanden van zware en moeilijke behandeling met ups en downs, veel moed, maar nooit berusting. Maar nu, nemen de dokters ontslag en geven een hoop van overleven van  maximum een jaar. De tijd dringt, maar het is onmogelijk voor Sevrien om deel te nemen aan één van de klinische proeven die momenteel lopen.  

Er zijn andere behandelingen in het buitenland, een belofte van een uitweg. Andere protocollen die het vooruitzicht bieden om tijd te winnen op de ziekte. Maar de kosten zijn van 200.000 euro, onbetaalbaar voor een koppel met een inkomen dat overeenkomt met dat van de ziektekostenverzekering, en wanneer uw echtgenoot een verzorger is. En ja, gelukkig is hij er om voor Emy en de rest te zorgen wanneer de zwaarte van de behandelingen Sevrien verhindert om op te staan. 

De keuze is nu gevallen op immunotherapie, een nieuwe behandelingsoptie die hoop biedt aan patiënten. Terwijl chemotherapie en radiotherapie tot doel hebben de kankercellen rechtstreeks te vernietigen, heeft immuuntherapie tot doel de kankercellen opnieuw opspoorbaar te maken door het immuunsysteem. Het immuunsysteem kan ze dan opnieuw herkennen als een "abnormaal element" en ze op natuurlijke wijze vernietigen. 

Een andere optie wordt ook overwogen met een nieuw type chemotherapie. Welke behandeling ook wordt gekozen, beide zijn even duur. Gezien de enorme bedragen die snel moeten worden gevonden, kunnen we niet wachten tot we zeker weten welke behandeling zal worden gekozen. En we moeten onmiddellijk beginnen met fondsenwerving.

 Het heeft geen zin om zo'n groot bedrag te moeten vinden om een leven te redden! Wij, haar familie, vrienden en collega's zijn bereid hemel en aarde te bewegen om Sevrien van een andere behandeling te mogen gebruiken.  We moeten minstens 20.000 euro per maand verzamelen en dat 10 maanden lang.

This cancer is very agressive and few solutions exist. Indeed, although breast cancer generally is getting healed better and better, with a 5-year survival rate that rose from 85% to 91% between 2000 and 2019 (pharma.be figures), triple-negative breast cancer remains the forgotten one in terms of therapeutic treatments. These aggressive cancers, which account for 15% of breast cancers, and which particularly affect women under 40, have a poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of around 20%.

Since November 2020, Sevrien has undergone chemotherapy and a mastectomy.  In June, the petscan results are not good, the cancer has become metastatic: the bones are affected.  Sevrien started another treatment. A new assessment at the end of September: the metastases had spread to the liver and lungs.   

Months of heavy and difficult treatments with ups and downs, a lot of courage, but never resignation. But now, the doctors are resigned and give a hope of survival of maximum one year. Time is running out, but it is impossible for Sevrien to join the clinical trials currently underway.  

There are other treatments abroad, a promise of a way out. Other protocols that offer the possibility of gaining time on the disease. But their cost is at least of 200.000€, unaffordable for a couple whose income is that of the health insurance, and when your spouse has that of helping spouse. And yes, fortunately he is there to take care    of Emy and the everything else when the heavy treatments prevent Sevrien from standing. 

The choice is now immunotherapy, a new treatment that offers hope to patients. While chemotherapy and radiotherapy aim to destroy the cancer cells directly, immunotherapy aims to make the cancer cells detectable again by the immune system. The immune system can then recognize them again as an "abnormal element" and naturally destroy them. 

Another option is also being considered with a new type of chemotherapy. Whichever treatment is chosen, both are equally expensive. Given the huge amount of money that need to be found quickly, we cannot wait to be sure which treatment is chosen. And we need to start this fundraising effort without delay.

 

It makes no sense to have to find such a large amount of money to save a life! We, her family, friends and colleagues are ready to move heaven and earth to allow Sevrien to benefit from another treatment.  We need to raise a minimum of €20,000 every month for 10 months.
