Malawi_ July 2025
My journey as a dental volunteer begun15 years ago in Uganda where I was on a mission with Dentaid (www.dentaid.org)
Leading a life without having created my own family weaponised me with time to offer my services where most needed around the world.
Over the next years I’d travel toAfrica (Uganda), Nepal, Philippines and Europe (Romania) running pain-relief clinics for children in need with various organisations.
Malawi 2023
An amazing adventure took place in Malawi. Almost 2000 patients were treated in 2 weeks while we had to overcome theconditions of a wet season with roads over flooding with water during our commute to the clinics
Burma 2018-2019
But that was only until I visited Phaya Taung monastery in Burma…
I was fortunate to visit and work in the Phaya Taung monastery (home to 1,400 orphan children) last November for a week during my mission with Burmadent (www.burmadent.com).
After a long day in the monastery, working in a camp dental clinic and exposing myself to the “dental reality” of hundreds of children while being totally disconnected from the rest of the world, my brain was restless, and my heart was pounding.
The only thought in my mind was that a week of stay at the monastery was not enough.
Taking care of these children filled my heart with warmth.
I knew that I soon I would come back and continue providing them with constant care and lots of hugs!
That was the moment that I felt I was home and that I had 1,400 children of my own.
Determined to return better equipped, I was inspired to create and run a dental surgery at the Phaya Taung monastery.
No more toothache.
No unnecessary teeth lost.
No more waiting for a dental mission to turn up randomly.
Those smiles must be preserved to allow the children of the Phaya Taung to smile, eat and live pain free.
My passion and the operational readiness of the Inle Trust came together to materialise our common dream… to set up a much-needed dental surgery to look after the oral health of the children living in Phaya Taung Monastery in Myanmar.
I invite you to join us on our mission and make a difference in the lives of the 1,400 [orphan] children of the Phaya Taung monastery by donating.
Every little helps.
Every donation of yours will improve materially the standards of living of all these children.
