Help Bury Michael A. Beaumont Sr.

In February of 2018 my father was diagnosed with terminal lung and bone cancer, types of cancer that run deep through the genetics of his family. He was diagnosed at a pivotal moment for me and my twin brother, in the midst of our senior year of high school and the beginning of our college careers.

My father attempted chemotherapy but his doctor suggested no longer continuing with treatment because his cancer was spreading at a rapid rate; in other words, his cancer was inoperable and ultimately incurable. His doctor concluded that he would only have 6-9 months remaining and that the infection that grew within his lungs would kill him before the cancer had the chance to reach his heart.

My father was known for being a really caring person and often cared for others more than he did himself. He helped raise a lot of his siblings' children and counseled troubled teenagers in his spare time. Growing up he was my best friend and he always accompanied me in horror movie marathons and late night television.

I wish I could say the end was peachy but like most things, not everything in life is pretty. He spent most of his days vomiting from the strength of his antibiotics to keep the infection at bay.  He wasn't able to eat or drink and endured immense pain on a daily basis. As the months progressed his cancer continued to spread throughout his entire body, eventually reaching his brain. My father began forgetting how to perform basic tasks such as putting on a shirt or working a cell-phone.  It pains me to say that he even forgot who I was.

My father spent his final days at the hospice center in our local hospital, heavily sedated to keep him comfortable, unable to communicate with his family and unable to breathe properly. He passed away on August 7th, 2018 surrounded by his closest family.

My mother is the only parent working in my household and she had to quit her job to care for my father full time. We can't afford to pay for his cremation or to really be on our feet. It's a difficult time because my brother and I are going to college and our expenses are looming over our shoulders. We also have to pay for my father's medical bills and that only worsens our situation.

The donations we hope to earn will go towards the cremation, the burial of my father and for me and my brother's college expenses such as textbooks and school supplies. Any form of donation would be helpful and I thank you for listening to my story and for considering my family in this time of need.
