Relief Fund for Alex Bullock

Family and friends: As many of you are aware, on Thursday, June 3 at 7:00 AM, 24 year old Alex Bullock was in a serious car accident. Details of the traumatic event were provided by the Westfield Police Department, given by two witnesses and confirmed with dash cam footage as recorded by a Tesla traveling behind Alex. After coming to a complete stop, he entered the intersection at 156th St to cross Oak Ridge Rd. A southbound truck didn’t stop or appear to slow down before it T-boned Alex’s car on the driver’s side. His car was pushed into a third vehicle stopped in the northbound lane of Oak Ridge Rd. It took 28 minutes for the Westfield Fire Department (use link to access photos) to get Alex from the vehicle. A tow truck had to be called to remove the truck from his car, and the jaws of life were used to cut off the roof and door frames in order to reach him. Alex was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

At the hospital, the trauma team determined Alex had a brain injury, three pelvic fractures, and a fractured rib. All agreed that it was a miracle he survived, and despite the serious internal injuries, he had almost no external ones. Alex has no memory of the accident and has a long road to recovery. His family is grateful the injuries he sustained were not more severe and very hopeful that he’ll recover. On Saturday, June 19, Alex was discharged from an inpatient acute rehab facility. After receiving hospital and rehab care for 17 days total, he’s moved back into his parent’s home for the needed support as he continues outpatient rehab and recovery.

Alex is the son of Mike and Marilyn Bullock and the third oldest of six children in this family. The Bullock’s are an inspirational faith-filled family and are setting examples for all as they support Alex through this traumatic event. The prayers and support from family, friends, and the community are greatly appreciated. It’s helped them feel love and support while giving them peace and hope. Unfortunately, there have been many challenges getting the necessary auto and medical insurance coverage set up to handle claims for his care so far. There will be numerous expenses ahead as a result of his ER visit, extended trauma team care, inpatient rehab at an acute care facility, outpatient rehab for several more weeks, safety/rehab equipment, legal expenses, automobile replacement, and apartment rental as he is not able to live independently in addition to the reduced salary from work, etc. It’s uncertain when he will be able to return to work full time. There are lots of unknowns at this point. Be assured of the family’s gratitude for all the prayers and support.

His extended family members would appreciate any financial support for him that you may be comfortable providing. Most importantly, we also ask for the continued prayers for Alex and his recovery, as well as for his immediate family who, while supporting him, are each dealing with the stress of this experience.
