Matthew's Smile

Hello, my name is Jasmine (Auntie Jas as Matthew and Makayla call me), and I'm raising funds for someone who is very dear to me, Matthew Elliott.

Matthew is the son of Mike and Coleen Elliott, friends of mine who I consider family. I grew up with Coleen and we have been there for each other for so many poignant moments life brings. So, when I found out just days ago that their son Matthew was in a horrific rollover car accident on his way to swim practice and was terribly hurt, I had to do something to help.

With the permission of his parents I have created this GoFundMe (Matthew is a minor [17]), so his father Mike will be handling the account for Matthew whom will receive 100% of the funds donated.

Matthew has suffered tremendous trauma to his scull from the impact. Several breaks surrounding his eye sockets, his nose, and jaw have occurred. He has undergone several hours of surgery...metal plates put in his face to hold it together, nose realignment, broken jaw wired shut, a tracheotomy to breath, numerous stitches, and incredible pain. Currently, his main form of communication is a short hand written note on a board while he is in ICU.

Matthew has so many needs right now. In the immediate, he needs an electronic aid to communicate with doctors, specialists, and his family and friends. Further, in case you are unaware, Matthew is a competitive swimmer with National rankings and collegiate dreams. His return to the pool will be a mountainous task and is dependent on specialists who can help him recover and repair what has literally been shattered.

So, I am asking you to please consider helping Matthew so that he can get the assistance he needs. And hopefully we can get his smile back and get him back in the pool where he belongs.
