Give Steve a Helping Hand

Donation protected
On Saturday March 16, 2024 , Steve Lemos was leading a hiking group in the remote Jacumba desert, located in San Diego, California, when a tragic accident occurred. He was scrambling on a very large boulder which dislodged and crushed his chest and severed his left hand completely. Steve fought for his life as it took search and rescue 2.5 hours to find and airlift him to a San Diego hospital where he was blessed that a microvascular hand specialist was on call. This wonderful Doctor spent 12 hours performing surgery reattaching his hand and reconstructing his forearm. Unfortunately, with numerous surgeries, the hand replantation failed and he had to have his left hand completely amputated to his mid forearm. He will need several more surgeries including skin grafting and months of recovery and rehabilitation.

The road to recovery will be long and Steve will have to learn how to live with only one hand until he heals and can be fitted for a prosthetic hand. Even with the latest and greatest technology, he will no longer be able to work as a mechanic which has been his speciality for 27 years and will have to change careers. Despite all that he is going through, his greatest concern is his teenage special needs son as he is the sole supporter.

This fundraiser was created as it is Steve's greatest wish to have the most advanced prosthetic , the Psyionic so he can continue on in life as normally as possible especially since he still has his son to raise. It will also help with his day to day life expenses.

From Steve: " Having always been independent, there comes a time in life when we need help from others. It is with great humility, that I ask for whatever help you can give. I thank everyone and God Bless. "
