Dad’s cancer journey

For all of you that know me, mum and dad, you would know that dad has had an extensive medical history over the years. For those of you who knew, dad had stage four bladder cancer approximately 4 years ago. Thank god for remission. When you go through something as tough as cancer, even being the family, you see how it can effect someone. It doesn’t just take a toll on the person fighting it, but the family and friends who surround this horrible disease too. 

Unfortunately earlier this week, we received the news that Dad has been re-diagnosed with cancer, something that we didn’t think we’d have to hear again. Now we just have to wait for treatment to start and the roller coaster that comes with it.

It’s not just the heart ache that takes a toll, but the journey that follows any cancer patient/family. Mum and I are working hard to make ends meet, it’s not that we struggle financially, but 1/3 of dads treatment is going to be an out of pocket expense, which we don’t mind as long as it will give dad his quality of life back. 

I’m not reaching out because I’m greedy, I hate reaching out, and for those of you who are close to me would understand that I’m not like that. I’m honestly asking any of you to help us, even just kind words and support, which will fulfil mum dad and I with hope during this horrible time.

I’d honestly like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for everything everyone has done. We are beyond grateful for the kindness shared.
