Preserving Low-Country History
Donation protected
Our cause promotes restoration and preservation of Low Country History, and our heritage. This historically black Gullah/Geechee church and it's property was donated in1895 to the Old House community of Ridgeland (Jasper County) for "as long as the world shall last". The land endured. Unfortunately, the church could not stand the test of time, as was closed in 1965. The community is rallying together to save this historic site, and rehabilitate it for use as a community center for tutoring, mentorship, and empowerment. Our mission statement is, we "Invest in our children's future" with our time, talent, and funds.
