Miracle for Mike

Donation protected
March 2018 placed the Kelley family on a path they never imagined they would be on... their beloved husband and father, Mike, was diagnosed with Astrocytoma Stage 4 (Glioblastoma), a very aggressive brain tumor.

Please read about his story below and if you are able: donate, pray for and share his story with others.

We, his friends and loved ones, are hoping and praying for a miracle.  A miracle of healing.  A miracle of more time spent with loved ones.  A miracle of increased faith and understanding in a greater plan...

Mike Kelley is an amazing Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend.  He has spent a lifetime in the service of those around him.  He is a happy, loving, strong, kind and generous person who has an infectious smile.

During the past couple of years he has not only cared for his immediate family but has also been commuting between his home in Missouri and his mom’s home in Oklahoma to help care for her so she can remain in her home (she has Alzheimer’s).

On Sunday March 4th, while in Oklahoma caring for his mom, his wife Rhonda got a call that HE was in the ER.   He had been having some severe headaches over the last couple of weeks and that day the pain was severe enough that he drove himself to the local Emergency Room.   After an initial CT scan showed a mass on his brain, he was transferred to a larger medical center in Tulsa.  His wife and daughter immediately drove down that night to meet him.

The next day was a long day of tests, scans and waiting.  The results showed a mass and swelling that were displacing about 1/4 of his brain. This was causing severe headaches, vision alterations, and occasional facial numbness.

After consulting with the Neurosurgeon, he was scheduled for surgery that Friday to remove the mass.  A few days of steroids were needed to reduce the swelling in preparation for surgery.

Friday arrived and he was in surgery for many hours.  The neurosurgeon removed as much of the tumor as possible and sent it to pathology.    Based on the way the tumor looked during surgery, the neurosurgeon recommended the family start looking for an oncologist.

After a long weekend of worry and waiting, the pathology results came back: Astrocytoma Stage 4 (Glioblastoma).

Within a few days, they traveled back to Missouri and began setting up appointments.  They met with neurology and an oncologist to determine immediate treatment options.  They were comforted by the oncologist’s knowledge, plan and positivity.  Chemotherapy and radiation treatments were recommended.

Additional and supportive treatments were also sought.  They met with integrative medicine, nutritionists, and others in the hope of healing.

Although the first round of traditional treatments has been completed, his journey for healing continues.  With that journey, a mountain of medical costs continues to amass.

Any amount you would be willing to donate to this wonderful family will assist in their efforts for hope and healing and help relieve stress that they are experiencing.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about their journey and for sharing this page with your friends and family!
