Help my Mom with breast cancer treatment

In January 2023, my mom received a devastating confirmation that a lump in her breast was cancerous. She was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, breast cancer. This diagnosis is a shock to everyone in her life as she is an active and healthy 61-year-old.

Watching your loved one be told they have cancer is truly heartbreaking. Especially when it is your Mom.

She is a caring wife, sister, loving mother and now a grandmother to 3 grandchildren. She is the glue that holds the family together.

My mom is usually a bundle of energy, she's a compassionate person and she is always the first one to offer help to everyone who needs it. But now she's the one that needs help to fight this cancer.

Cancer treatment is extremely costly. Our savings including moms' went toward her lumpectomy surgery and all of the expensive tests, lab works and other procedures. The next step is to undergo a course of radiation treatment followed by hormonal treatment. Unfortunately, these procedures including the surgery are not covered by her insurance and are considered completely out-of-pocket.

Normally, I prefer giving rather than asking. It has taken me 2 months to create this fundraiser, mostly because the idea of charity feels uncomfortable. But we know we have friends, family and the community who want to help, as would we in the same situation.

Although this has been a very stressful time for our family, my mom has remained positive and courageous through it all. Never in a million years did we think this would happen but together we will beat this!
