These are just a few of the need requests we see daily on the Mutual Aid Tompkins Immediate Needs Facebook page.

And, our community has come together to address these calls for help.

We know we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to folks who are currently or historically in need of a concerned community of care with a center of self-determination, autonomy, non-judgment, respect, decentralization, and resources.

We work in compassionate solidarity with those who need help not in sympathetic charity.

We understand folks who are in great need can also be a great help and vice versa.

We have had folks who are quarantined advise they can help their communities over the phone and/or internet.

We have had folks use our growing network to pay for and drop off groceries to strangers.

We are proud and humbled by the way folks are already being vulnerable and sharing their needs as well as folks being willing to meet those immediate needs.

However, we are not surprised by the concept of folks helping folks as it is one of the core values of mutual aid.

Now, we ask you for your aid.

Please, consider joining our community by volunteering, donating funds, and sharing our project with others. We are setting our fundraising goal for $70,400 because there are 7,040 people in our mutual aid network! If each of you contribute $10 we will reach our goal. However, please know we love and accept whatever donation works best within your budget.

Also, if you have direct knowledge of folks currently in need, please let us know and we will see how we can work together.

This work is not just for now but for organizing a community who recognizes simultaneously our shared struggles and shared powers.

Please, fund our growing dreams of a better Tompkins County community.
