Paul's Cancer Fight

My name is Mary. I'm raising funds for my brother-in-law and his family.

 

Here is his story...

Paul Burza was diagnosed with cancer at the end of February 2021. He had major surgery to remove half of his lung in mid-March of 2021, which removed the original tumor. They discovered via biopsy of some of the surrounding lymph nodes that the cancer had already been spreading to his lymph nodes. He had to undergo 4 months of chemotherapy from May - August 2021 and then had another CT in September 2021 that showed enlarging lumpy nodes that had spread from the lung area to also the middle of his chest. He had a biopsy that confirmed those enlarged nodes are cancerous and he was stage 3, as it had spread to his mediastinum (middle of chest).

They are not able to operate again because it will cause the cancer to spread faster in the lymph nodes. His only treatment option is to undergo daily, targeted radiation to those areas, and needs to keep receiving chemo weekly while also receiving radiation. After 6 weeks of chemo/radiation, doctors will give him a couple of weeks to recover before they start immunotherapy injections. Paul is unable to work and was approved for disability, but it won't even be a quarter of what he was previously earning before he became sick.

Paul is married to my sister, Deborah (Webster) Burza and they have three children. Deborah has had several health problems herself, as well. They both are hard workers. We know that there are those who love them who would like to ease the financial strain that they are currently facing.

UPDATE: May 2022-

Paul's cancer has progressed to Stage 4, as it has metastasized into his liver and his neck and other locations. They are exploring what targeted treatment options may be available at this stage. Their bills continue to pile up, and they are in dire needs of assistance to get to their next appointments, which will likely be several hundreds of miles away from home, several times per week. Anything helps, and it is very much needed. Thank you!

UPDATE: January 2023-

We are so saddened to say that Paul passed away on 12/26/2022. He leaves behind his wife and 3 children. Any donations made at this point will go toward helping to support them and to pay for Paul's final expenses. Thank you all very much.
