A mothers worst nightmare

Hi my name is Chantal I’ve had the privilege of knowing Kaliyah since she was 3 years old. She is one of the most heartfelt and caring people I know. What was supposed to be one of the happiest times in her life turned into a mothers nightmare. Her son Koah was born prematurely on July 27th via emergency c-section. He was born with multiple congenital defects which include congenital heart disease, a cleft lip and palate, agenesis of the corpus collosum (a brain abnormality), and a few other abnormalities. He recently underwent an extremely long surgery of having a g-tube placed for feeding having a stomach procedure to help with acid reflux, a temporary lip adhesion, and had extra tissue removed which was obstructing his airway; all in one.

 

In the coming months he will have to have a few more surgeries including, but not limited to, open heart surgery. Because of Koah’s medical complexities, the many appointments and raising his two siblings, Kaliyah is unable to return to work at this time. With Koah’s birth, the surgery he has already had to undergo, and the surgeries that are to come, this family has been placed with a very high financial burden and could use any, and all, help from the community, family, and friends. Kaliyah is a hardworking, caring and devoted mother who is going to need to stay with Koah 24/7 throughout these next couple months and continuing after his upcoming surgeries.
