Nellie

Nellie is a 19 year old Belgian Draught that we saved from slaughter on Christmas in 2022. She was a plow horse for the Amish and dumped at a kill pen when she was no longer deemed “useful”. She was 300 pounds underweight when she came to the rescue and absolutely TERRIFIED of humans. She had never even seen a treat or carrot before. Despite all that she had been through, she was nothing but a gentle giant. Over time she learned to trust us, and with the right diet and medical care she gained all of the weight back. 

Recently Nellie has begun struggling with a skin condition causing her to itch to the point of hurting herself. So far the rescue has spent over $3,000 on veterinary visits, diagnostic testing and medications to no avail. We are desperate and willing to do anything to help her. The next step is allergy testing with specially formulated injections - this is another $2,000 we are looking at spending.
