Rachel's bucket list

Hi everyone,

My name is Gemma. I have created this GoFundMe page for my best friend Rachel, with the help of her brother Charlie.

In December, Rachel was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She has endured several rounds of chemotherapy, suffered considerable pain and side effects and was ultimately forced to undergo a Double Mastectomy.

Despite bravely fighting her condition, this week, Rachel received the devastating news that her cancer has spread. She now has Stage 4 Secondary Lung Cancer with multiple tumours in both of her lungs. Her cancer has proved resistant to the strongest chemotherapy available. Whilst other, weaker treatments are available, they will only serve to slow the growth of the tumours currently in her lungs, if they work at all. As such, Rachel has been advised that her condition is terminal and that this could well be her last Christmas.

Rachel has always known that the chance of recurrence was high. But, as I am sure everyone will appreciate, receiving a terminal diagnosis has been crushing. It cuts short the time she has to spend with her husband and her beautiful children; with her family and her friends. Soon, those who love her will be robbed of the opportunity to spend time with her and create special memories. We thought we had years, not months!

With this in mind, Rachel has put together a Bucket List; things to see and do while her mind is willing and her body is still able. She has also begun to plan her funeral, to remove one of the stresses her family will have to endure when she goes. And that is where we need your help.

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to give to Rachel in the coming weeks. Part of the proceeds will help tick items off her bucket list, and part will be put aside to cover the cost of funeral arrangements. We understand we are asking a lot, as times are tough at the moment, and not everyone is able to donate. But if you are able to make a donation, no matter how great or small, we would truly appreciate it.

This is not something you expect to face at 39 years old, but Rachel has shown so much strength, courage and bravery. She truly is an inspiring woman.
