Assistance for Angie’s continuing cancer treatment
Donation protected
On October 14, 2023 Angela, her family and I received news that no person wants to hear, breast cancer.
After CT scans, MRI’s and a PET scan, our world was again turned upside down when we received further news that her cancer is stage 4 and the breast cancer had spread to her liver. The cancer is BRCA2 (hereditary), the cells are grade 3 (the most rapidly splitting) and HER2 negative (“fed” by estrogen). There is no plans of surgery to remove the tumors and the Doctor in December estimated 50-60 months with treatment.
Since the diagnosis Angela has undergone 4 round of IV chemo, 3 rounds of pill chemo and a laparoscopic procedure to remove her ovaries along with a 10cm ovarian cyst (non cancerous) in April.
Angela has continued to work through all of this while receiving ongoing treatments she still has/utilizes health insurance, which they’ve almost doubled her monthly premiums. Out of pocket expenses continue to come in and have accumulated to about $15,000 (as of the date of this post) that isn’t being covered by insurance. She will continue to incur medical expenses for the rest of her life for her “comfort care” treatments.
Grants were applied for to receive financial assistance, but SIU failed to submit them before the closing date.
If she applies for disability it is currently a 240 day wait before she receives any benefits.
This fund raiser is outside of her comfort level, she’s always been independent and the strongest person I know, so I know her giving permission to post this wasn’t easy for her. But it’s time to ask for help.
Our goal is to raise her is $10,000, which will cover two thirds of her portion of the currently billed procedures and treatments not covered by her insurance.
If you are willing to give, no amount is too small and every penny is appreciated.
Thank you from Angie, her family and myself.
