Help Lucas fight Leukemia

The Bosley family was enjoying a typical week filled with soccer practice, day care drop off and quality family time together, when their life was quickly turned upside down. Lucas (3), had been bothered by a stomach ache all week, and was wanting to be carried; something this independent little guy doesn’t normally ask for. Nick and Whitney (Dad & Mom) didn’t think much of it given that tummy aches are a pretty frequent ailment with kiddos. Then came the bloody nose and jaundice color which prompted them to take him in to the doctor last Friday. Their pediatrician immediately sent them to the ER for blood testing. His platelets were at a dangerously low level of 3, healthy levels are 150+. Lucas was immediately given a blood transfusion and rushed to Children's Hospital in Denver. Here he was given more blood, and the heartbreaking diagnosis of Leukemia. Gasp. No parent is prepared for this type of life threatening diagnosis for their child. Heart broken and feeling punched in the stomach, they broke the news to our family & close friends. Over the past week Lucas received multiple blood transfusions, underwent surgery to insert his chemotherapy port, and started his chemotherapy. He is on a two year treatment plan for recovery. He’s been a brave little dude and has kept his silly smiley attitude. Nick and Whitney are doing their best to keep a normal schedule for big brother Bryce while driving to Children’s daily to take turns staying with Lucas. Though insurance will cover many of the medical bills, there will be some things that will be “out of network”. Along with medical bills, the family will experiences loss of income while they take time away from work to care for their baby.
