Honoring Matthew's Life and Memory
Donation protected
Hi. This is my older brother. Matthew Chen.
He passed away unexpectedly on the night of April 4th at 24 years old. Our family is extremely heart broken. This is a tragedy no parent should ever have to experience. Our home is so much emptier now. We need to honor his life in the best way possible. He was so young and talented. I’ll always remember his creativity and clever ideas. His dedication to his work and the things that he loved. He always tried to bring joy to those around him.
Matthew was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Ramon, CA, getting his diploma from California High School. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in game design, at UCSC in 2023. Recently, he worked in civil engineering using his coding skills. In his free time, he loved playing video games and making art in all media forms. He enjoyed all sorts of anime and manga and learned an amazing amount of Japanese on his own. Many online users loved and praised his designs under his alias CandyStore. At family gatherings he would always bring a dessert. I will miss his carrot cakes. He a had passion for baking and also music.
I am asking for donations to help us with the cost of funeral and other memorial costs. Anything that can help alleviate some of the grief that my family is experiencing. Any amount can help us through this difficult time. Extra funds will be saved for other families whom experience a similar loss. He will be laid to rest on April 21st, 2025.
Mom, dad, me, and our two dogs (Bruce and Coco) will miss you very much.
