Fanatics for the Oats Family
Donation protected
Every single day, over 20 thousand Cyclone Fans frequent CycloneFanatic.com. Over the years, we have had an additional goal to being the best Iowa State fan site on the Internet.
We want our community to do good things for others.
You might not know this, but Buffalo head coach Nate Oats has done a lot of great things for the Cyclone Nation over the years. He was Will Clyburn's high school coach. Remember Dominique Buckley? His too.
Former Iowa State assistant coach Charlie Henry coached under Oats at Romulus High School in Michigan, as did current Cyclone GA Nate Schmidt.
To this day, Oats is a close personal friend of ISU assistant T.J. Otzelberger.
It's such a sad story. At the age of 41, Oats' wife, Crystal, is fighting lymphoma. She's currently on her second round of chemo (of six) and as is the case for many folks fighting this awful disease, medical bills have piled up.
Oats is the first year coach at Buffalo, who will invade Hilton Coliseum on Monday night (8 p.m. on ESPNU).
I think it would be very cool for the Cyclone Nation to step up, do what they can and help support the Oats family (along with their three daughters Lexi, Jocie and Brielle) that is struggling to keep up with medical bills.
Do what you can. If that's nothing financially, how about tweeting at @nate_oats to show him how supportive the Cyclone Nation can be.
Your prayers are just as valuable as money.
Thank you and please, help spread the word.
