Sonya Willie is a high school English teacher at Covington High. She was 36 weeks pregnant with her second child (she has a 2 year old named Lily) when she was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer. Her medical team decided to perform a c-section so she could begin treatment for the cancer and on March 31st she delivered a 7 lb 9 oz beautiful baby boy. She has a very long road ahead of her to recovery that will, undoubtedly, be laden with many obstacles and financial barriers. Sonya has gone above and beyond for her students and families in her 19 years as an educator. Any donations will be used for the inevitable medical bills and recovery while she is on medical leave. It is anticipated she will not be physically able to return to work until 2015. In addition to financial contributions, please keep Sonya in your prayers that God will guide the physicians and she will be cured! God Bless all of you! In a testament to her selfless character, I cannot find a single picture with just Sonya, she is always in the shot with a loved one (or three!).
