Urgent Response to Ebola Outbreak

Donation protected
Ebola is an infectious and generally fatal disease marked by fever and severe internal bleeding, spread through contact with infected body fluids. There is a serious Ebola outbreak emergency in Eastern Sierra Leone. There is an urgent need for massive sensitization on prevention and control of the virus through peer health education to reduce the spread of the disease.

EXAMPLE OF FUNDS ALLOCATION: Just $250 can sensitize an entire community on Ebola.

ADW’s response will be coordinated by KIDS (Kids Involved in Dynamic Sport) in collaboration with the ministry of health and sanitation, and the Sierra Leone Red Cross society in the Kono District.

The response is carried out by visiting communities in Sierra Leone, educating the people on how Ebola is spread, and how to prevent themselves and others from contracting it.

To date, over 2000 people have been verified as Ebola victims, and the World Health Organization believes this number is vastly underestimating the true scale of the epidemic, which is damaging Sierra Leone’s already fragile economy and public health system: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-29055041
