Diabetic Service Dog for Alyssa!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Taylor and I am fundraising for my best friend to get a diabetic service dog!

Alyssa is a 20 year old girl living with type 1 diabetes. After she was misdiagnosed at 16, she received her diagnosis at 17. Alyssa is always on the go- whether it’s flying to a new country or planning events for her schools entire student body. A service dog would help her navigate the daily struggles of T1D without compromising her goals. Diabetes is unpredictable and can be overwhelming to manage on your own. Having this support in the form of a four-legged-best-friend can mean the difference between living or thriving with this illness.
Diabetic Alert Dogs are trained to...
  • Alert diabetic owners in advance of low (hypoglycemia) or high (hyperglycemia) blood sugar events before they become dangerous
  • Sniff out a rapidly rising or falling blood sugar (up to 20 minutes before a glucose monitor)
  • Alert their owners at night while they're sleeping and may not wake up to symptoms or alarms
  • Bring their owners sugar or insulin to treat the low or high
  • Alert someone nearby if their owner is unconscious or unresponsive
  • Provide emotional support and peace of mind
