Help Cindy Kick Cancer's Butt

If you know Cindy Moores at all, chances are she has gone out of her way to be there for you at some point. She's more than one person's 'ride or die', I know that for sure. Now it's our turn.

In March, Cindy received news that shook us all to the core: a diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer, with lesions found on her bones and liver and with cancer cells spread through her hips and spine. The first message I got from her about it was classic Cindy: full of optimism, enthusiasm and hope despite the situation. She was, frankly, more calm about the whole thing than most of the rest of us. And that's classic Cindy, too. A crazy challenging, nearly impossible situation? Bring it on! She'll eat it for breakfast. Or make friends with it and make it breakfast. Both are options.

Fortunately, Cindy was able to begin treatment quickly with a great medical team, and so far, her body is responding well to the chemo. This is likely to be an up and down process, but the "up" seems to be increasing. Her three incredibly fabulous children, Kinsey, David and Aedan have been by her side through all of this.

Unfortunately, the school she has dedicated the last 7 years to helping build requires all staff to be directly present on campus, and they were heartbroken to have to let her go. The school was able to provide a health program and pay the deductible to cover the major direct expenses, but this still leaves a significant gap that needs filling while Cindy undergoes treatment and takes the time to rest.

That's where we come in. As friends, colleagues, and members of Cindy's church and other communities, we have the opportunity to radically love on this woman who means so much to so many of us. Let's remove the stress so she can focus all her energies on recovery.
